BarkPing is built to know as little as possible about you. The app has no account, no server of its own and collects no personal data. Here we describe exactly what happens to the audio, the activity log and syncing.
Audio and analysis
Microphone audio is analyzed in real time on the device using private sound recognition. If clips are enabled, BarkPing stores only the short model window that triggered a logged event, plus brief pre-roll when available. Clips never leave the device, are not synced, and are not sent to BarkPing or Sentry. There is no live-listening feature.
The activity log
When a bark is detected, an event is stored with time, sound type (bark, howl or whine), confidence and the device name. Local detections may also have a short playable audio clip. At most 200 clips are kept; they are excluded from backup and protected by iOS file protection. Deleting activity history also deletes the clips.
iCloud sync and Family Circle
So that your other devices can receive alerts, events sync through your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit). The data is stored with Apple under Apple's terms and tied to your iCloud account – BarkPing has no servers of its own and cannot read your data.
If you invite family members through Family Circle, sharing happens through Apple's private sharing flow. You choose the recipients, see pending invitations and can remove members or stop sharing at any time. BarkPing never receives the recipients' contact details and creates no public sharing links.
Diagnostics
BarkPing may send anonymized crash reports and technical error events to our error reporting tool (Sentry). Reports never include audio, activity log contents, iCloud identities or sharing links – only a typed operation, an error code and the app and device version. The data is used solely to find and fix problems and cannot be linked to you.
The barkping.com website
The website is static and has no sign-in. One cookie (lang) stores your language choice. Technical error reporting (Sentry) is used to detect site errors; it does not collect personal data for marketing and there are no ad cookies.
